Ginny Graham
CHAIR
Freelance drama consultant/practitioner; director of Montgomeryshire Youth Theatre; former member of ACW drama committee and Chair of ACW youth drama and education committee; former member of management committee National Association of Youth Theatres; special interest in performing arts, literature, and visual arts.

Mary Elster
SECRETARY
Past experience has included working for the Arts Council of Wales; the Institute of Contemporary Arts; and the National Film School: particular interests are visual arts and architecture.

Philip Freeman
TREASURER
Former Director of Mid Wales May Festival and co-ordinator of Welsh Fiddle Conventions 1997 & 8; currently administrator and trustee of TASC; former Radio Maldwyn broadcaster and management committee member; founder and trustee of TRAC (1997-2002); former editorial board member of Welsh folk magazine Taplas; on ACW's National List of Advisors; member of Powys Regeneration Partnership (Arts & Culture); member of North Wales Youth Music Forum.

Sue Best
Free-lance theatre practitioner, runs Shakespeare Link and works widely with drama in the community; past Chair of Powys Arts Forum with strong belief in linking artists with audiences in a vital and energetic communications hub.

Euros Richards

Roeddwn yn arfer gweithio fel Swyddog Datblygu Ieunctid i Fenter Iaith Maldwyn ers Mehefin 2003 ac rwyf newydd cychwyn gweithio fel Prif Swyddog i Fenter Brycheiniog ers Awst eleni ac rydym yn trefnu a cynnal digwyddiadau celfyddydol (dramau, gigs, prosiectau gyda ysgolion ac ai) i gynyddu'r o'r Gymraeg mewn cymunedau lleol.
I worked as a Youth Development Officer for Menter Maldwyn (Welsh Language Initiative for Montgomeryshire) from June 2003 and have been working as Principal Officer for Menter Brycheiniog since August 2006. We organise and hold various artistic events to promote and increase the use of the Welsh language in local communities.

Catrin Slater
Joined Powys Arts Forum committee in 2005; a freelance fundraiser based in Brecon; PhD in English poetry (Cambridge); fundraiser at Glyndebourne Opera and Wigmore Hall; current projects include Brecon Cathedral Choir Appeal; trustee of Celf o Gwmpas and Shakespeare Link.

Emma Metcalf
Member of Powys Arts Forum management committee since 2005; brought up on a farm in Wales; has worked in theatre administration; currently working in education; spare time interests walking in Wales and supporting local arts activities.

Liz Pugh
Member of Powys Arts Forum management committee since 2005; currently a director in the Director Team at CARAD with a special interest in graphic design.

Clare Martin
Graduated from NEWI as a mature student with a degree in illustration; has now moved into other areas, including jewellery-making; currently working at Oriel Davies, Newtown as Community Education Officer.

Kama Roberts
A recent graduate from Welsh College of Music and Drama, currently working with Shakespeare Link.



Ros Garrett
One of the Forum's founders, Ros has worked for 10 years in Arts Development, assisting community groups and arts organisations with developing projects and funding with special interest in education, painting, visual arts, and dance.

Ros was re-elected in 2006 and served on the committee through an important transitional phase but has now resigned in anticipation of her move to Scotland with her family. The Forum would like to thank her for all her hard work and dedication and wish her well for the future.



Committee Business
Powys Arts Forum is a Company Limited by Guarantee and a registered charity. This is both to strengthen the organisation and provide protection for all those involved.

Please note that items for consideration by the committee need to be sent 10 days in advance.

In addition to the full management committee there are a number of sub-committees which are developing projects and policies.

  • Welsh Language Policy (Euros Richards)
    This is the draft policy we are working with - Welsh Language Policy - and it will formally be adopted in the next three months, along with a set of guidelines for its implementation.
  • Website(Philip Freeman) The Powys Arts Forum website is now being updated every few weeks, and a bank of information and news is being built up. We are keen to hear from others who might want to help.
    In 2007 we have added the Useful Info page, and created a new Opportunities section on the home(welcome)page.
    We are currently working on improving the accessibility of the site, adding more links, developing Welsh Language content, and planning a Message Board of some kind.

  • Finance(Philip Freeman) Currently developing a business plan for the future and working closely with the Arts Service at Powys County Council to try and establish new opportunities for the arts in 2008.

  • Powys Arts Forum has also set up Powys Arts Forum Limited, to take over the expanding role of the Forum. Company secretary of the new organisation is Mary Elster.

    Powys Arts Forum also receives valuable advice, help and assistance from the following observers.

  • Expense claims

    For travel (including attending meetings) carried out on behalf of the Forum we pay 30p per mile by car, the cost of bus travel or second class rail travel and any out of pocket expenses (car parking charges etc) relating to travel.

    Any accommodation or subsistence claims should be agreed with the chair or treasurer in advance.
