Want to Contribute?

This is the place to talk about what we like, and what we don't. What works for us and what doesn't? How good are the events in our theatres or the exhibitions in our galleries? Are there magnificent little happenings going on at places you have never even heard of? How does an exhibition differently affect a 6 year old, a college student or a pensioner? Are audiences getting what they want, or what they deserve?

We need to hear your views on what you've seen. Send your submissions to views(at)powysartsforum.org.uk. They should be around 500 words long, but precise length isn't all that important. Please send two images as well which we may use to illustrate your piece. We will assume that you have the copyright of these images, or that you have the permission of the copyright holder to use them on our website.

GUIDELINES

There aren't any hard and fast rules but the aim of this site is to encourage conversations that will lead to better experiences of the arts in Powys.

Does the event have to take place in Powys? Usually - or of not it should relate to Powys. If it's something outside there should be a Powys link, such as about Powys or by artists from Powys (though it might also be why doesn't a show like this come to Powys?)

Does the event have to be still available? No. We are hoping to encourage debate about the arts, act as a catalyst not engage in marketing (though there's significant areas of overlap)

Are book reviews acceptable? Yes but there must be a Powys link.

Can you review your own work? We don't think self-reviewing is good practice, but mutual reviews can help to strengthen networks, which is what we're about.

We aren't really looking for reviews in the usual sense, we want to encourage conversations about the work rather than a judgement which is what a review often is. We couldn't find a word that would convey that fully, though, so we settled on viewpoints, which hopefully indicates that where you stand has a lot to do with what you see.
